Fake OKX airdrops and giveaways: how the scam works and how to avoid it

Posts and messages promising OKX airdrops or giveaways are a common phishing route. How the scam works, the warning signs and the official ways to check announcements.

OKX | Poland | PLN | fees, access and account safety

A post appears in your feed: OKX is celebrating an anniversary and giving away tokens to the first users who connect their wallet or log in through a special page. It looks official, with the right logo and a convincing countdown. Variations of this scam run constantly, on social media, in messaging groups and through paid search ads. Understanding how it works makes it easy to spot, whatever the latest disguise.

How the scam works

The goal is always one of three things: your OKX login and verification codes, a signature from your wallet that gives a contract access to your tokens, or a small deposit that supposedly unlocks a larger reward. The fake page may copy OKX's design exactly. Once you enter credentials or sign, funds can be moved quickly. The giveaway itself does not exist; the urgency is there to stop you from checking.

Warning signs

Be suspicious of any offer that asks you to send crypto to receive more, to connect a wallet on a page you reached from a post or message, or to log in through a link rather than the app. Look at the address bar: small spelling changes and extra words are common. Replies under the post praising the giveaway are usually from fake accounts. Real promotions do not require you to share codes or seed phrases.

Check announcements the official way

If you want to know whether a promotion is real, open the OKX app and look in the announcements or rewards section. You can also use OKX's verification page to check whether a social media account, email or website belongs to OKX; reach that page from the app or by typing the address yourself. If the promotion is not listed there, assume it is fake and report the post.

If you already interacted

If you entered your login on a fake page, change your password from the app immediately, reset two-factor authentication and log out all sessions. Check your withdrawal addresses. If you signed a wallet transaction, revoke token approvals using a trusted tool reached from a bookmark and move remaining funds to a new wallet if you shared your seed phrase. Then contact OKX support from the app.

Risk boundary: OKX Poland Guide

Digital assets are volatile and derivatives can amplify losses. This website has no login, wallet connection, deposit form or customer-support chat. A referral link only records attribution; it does not guarantee access, pricing, rewards, approval or investment results. Availability can differ by residence, legal entity and product, so no regional access is assumed from language or branding alone.

Scenario checkpoint

  • Treat any giveaway that asks for a deposit, wallet signature or login link as a scam.
  • Check the address bar and ignore praise in replies under giveaway posts.
  • Confirm promotions in the OKX app announcements and the official verification page.
  • After interacting, change your password, reset 2FA, revoke approvals and contact support.
